Why associations matter
An association helps the language switcher reach the matching record rather than only another language’s homepage. Joomla supports associations for several content types when the component implements them.
Checking an associated pair
Translations must be separate records with the correct language, category and publication state. Matching aliases alone do not create a Joomla association. After saving, test switching in both directions, URLs and translation visibility.
Joomla language associations connect translations but do not automatically synchronise their text. Update the associated versions when the source content changes.
