Serve Google Fonts from your website
Add a Google Fonts URL manually or enable automatic detection. The extension detects supported font references in HTML and local CSS, stores stylesheets and font files on your server, and replaces external references with local ones. It creates processed CSS copies without modifying the original template or extension files.
Each Google Font has its own character subset, font-style, font-weight and font-display settings. Subsets can be selected automatically, kept in full or chosen manually. Managed Google Fonts remain connected after the original template inclusion is removed. Cache expiry does not delete a font, and a failed refresh retains the last working local copy.
Multiple variants in one family
Upload WOFF2, WOFF, TTF and OTF files using the file picker or drag and drop. A single family can include multiple files with individual style, weight and font-display settings. Add, remove and reorder variants using Joomla's standard repeatable blocks. File changes are applied when the form is saved.
Weight selectors include both numbers and familiar names, such as “400 — Regular” and “700 — Bold”. A variable font can be configured with its supported weight range. The extension does not convert font files or generate variants that are absent from them.
Management and sources
The font list provides search, filters, sorting and batch enable, disable and delete actions. Click a family name to edit it. Automatically added Google Fonts include the font URL and a table of HTML and CSS sources, with the owning extension shown when it can be identified. HTML detection keeps a diagnostic example page rather than a history of every visited URL.
The Rescan action checks the homepage and its associated local CSS. It is not a full-site crawler: fonts used only on inner pages are detected when those pages are processed with automatic detection enabled.
Configuration and frontend behavior
Options are available through Joomla's native component configuration, including inline help and permissions. Show in Menu hides the component menu entry without disabling frontend font processing. Font administration remains available when the system plugin is disabled; disabling the plugin stops automatic frontend processing and font injection.
Local Fonts Manager registers and loads fonts but does not assign them to page elements: set font-family in the template or your site's CSS. Localization covers the references the extension processes. External stylesheets, fonts loaded dynamically by third-party scripts and the optional remote fallback require separate consideration.
